Job Summary
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Responsible for the supervision of medical assistant staff in a healthcare setting.
- Operates as a medical assistant as well as scheduling of medical assistants, coordination with other medical staff and medical assistant practices, and training of medical assistants.
- Operates at a medium level of authority with assistance from the Director of Nursing and other administrative staff and ensures the clinical operations of the medical clinic run smoothly.
- Supports the implementation of departmental initiatives and processes.
- Supervises the delivery of healthcare services provided by medical assistants to ambulatory out-patients in accordance with departmental, IU, and Indiana professional standards
- Performs delegated duties of the Director of Nursing in the event of absence
- Provides administrative leadership and direct supervision of Medical Assistants including establishing schedules, assigning work, providing orientation, and monitoring performance for accuracy and completion
- Performs duties of the Medical Assistant as needed
- Assists in recruiting, hiring, training, evaluations
- Assist in reviewing and enforcing policies, procedures, patient care standards and compliance with IU policies
- Provides administrative support to a department or group of professionals, exercising confidentiality, tact and diplomacy.
- Utilizes business software applications to prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas, minutes, etc.
- Compiles data for expense and statistical reports.
- Receives, screens, and directs incoming calls, visitors, mail, and email promptly, courteously, and accurately.
- Schedules and confirms appointments, meetings, and travel arrangements while monitoring expenses.
- Participates in the development and implementation of administrative standards, policies and practices for the organization.
- May perform other duties related to maintaining an internal website and/or working with social media.

EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

- 2 years of relevant experience
- 1 year of supervisory experience

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
