The Travelers Indemnity Company has an opening for a Senior Data Engineer in Hartford, Connecticut. This position is 100% remote; may work from home.
Build and operationalize complex data solutions, correct problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing/quality solutions. Design complex data solutions, including incorporating new data sources and ensuring designs are consistent across projects and aligned to data strategies. Perform analysis of complex sources to determine value and use and recommend data to include in analytical processes. Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality. Act as a data and technology subject matter expert within lines of business to support delivery and educate end users on data products/analytic environment. Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for defects and incidents of high complexity and correct as appropriate. Collaborate across team to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products/analytic environment.
Must possess at least a bachelor’s degree (either 3- or 4-year degree) or its equivalent in Computer Science or a related STEM field and at least 7 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a related role. Must also possess the following: at least 5 years of experience designing, building, and supporting large scale enterprise solutions; at least 5 years of experience ETL technologies, including Ab Initio suite; at least 5 years of experience with databases: Snowflake, Teradata Vantage, Oracle, MongoDB; at least 5 years of experience with enterprise tools and capabilities; at least 5 years of experience implementing and supporting key data controls and governance/management processes (Data Governance, Data Lineage, audit ability and controls), regulated data domains (PII, SOX controls, Regulatory audits) in a highly regulated environment; at least 5 years of experience optimizing and tuning Data Engineering workloads that span across multiple technology platforms; and demonstrative experience with Claude Code and Gen AI. Approximately 40 hours per week; the salary range for this position is from $156,458 to $188,000 per year.
