Description
We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Proposal Writer to join our Communications and Marketing Services (CMS) Department.
This is a high-visibility, deadline-driven role focused on developing proposals, presentations, qualification packages, and other marketing materials for state and local government entities. The Proposal Writer plays a key role in communicating the firm’s experience, strategic approach, and operational capabilities through clear, accurate, and strategically organized written materials.
Work produced in this role is presented directly to managing partners, executive leadership, and prospective government clients and plays an essential role in securing major government contracts. Accuracy, responsiveness, organization, and professional judgment are critical. Candidates who take pride in producing polished work product under tight deadlines will excel in this role.
This position requires strong project management skills, sound editorial judgment, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment. The Proposal Writer works closely with attorneys, executive leadership, and CMS team members across offices to develop strategic, client-facing work product.

Requirements
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage proposal timelines, deliverables, and internal coordination to ensure deadlines are met
- Analyze RFPs, RFQs, and procurement documents to identify key requirements and response strategies
- Draft, edit, and tailor proposals, presentations, qualification packages, and other marketing materials
- Coordinate with attorneys, executives, and subject matter experts to gather information for proposal responses
- Review written materials for clarity, consistency, grammar, technical accuracy, and overall quality
- Support multiple concurrent proposal efforts while balancing competing deadlines and priorities
- Maintain proposal boilerplate content, databases, and marketing reference materials
- Support broader CMS initiatives and special projects that contribute to the growth, organization, and ongoing evolution of the firm’s marketing and business development efforts
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Government, Business, or related field
- 3-5 years of professional proposal writing, business development, grant writing, technical writing, or closely related experience
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding organization and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines and produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in legal services, professional services, government contracting, business development, or proposal-related environments
- Experience responding to RFPs, RFQs, or other formal procurement documents
- Experience managing complex projects and coordinating with multiple stakeholders
- Self-motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability
